The Role

We are seeking an Engineering Trainer to deliver high‑quality, innovative teaching and learning across a range of practical and theoretical engineering subjects. You will design and deliver engaging training that meets Awarding Body requirements and apprenticeship Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs).

The role requires you to support learners in developing both technical competence and the softer skills embedded within apprenticeship programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality training in subjects aligned to your engineering expertise at Levels 3 and 4.

  • Develop independent learners and support progression through Level 3 apprenticeship and HNC programmes.

  • Manage physical learning resources and teaching spaces to ensure effective training and assessment.

  • Create and develop learning content, including schemes of work for apprenticeship trailblazers.

  • Integrate relevant training offers from industry partners into the curriculum.

  • Monitor the learning environment and work with the DSL to ensure learner health, safety and welfare.

  • Track and support the progress of your caseload, tailoring your approach to individual learner needs.

  • Ensure timely completion of apprenticeships through structured support and intervention.

  • Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong engineering knowledge, ideally gained through several years of industrial experience.

  • Experience in key competencies such as:

    • Installing and maintaining fluid power systems

    • Mechatronic systems

    • Electrical or mechanical engineering disciplines

  • Understanding of effective teaching methodologies.

Qualifications

Essential

  • HNC, HND or Degree in an engineering discipline.

  • Level 2 Maths and English (GCSE Grade C/4 or Level 2 Functional Skills).

Desirable

  • Level 3 Apprenticeship.

  • Recognised teaching/training qualification.

  • CAVA or equivalent assessor qualification.

  • Internal Quality Assurance qualification.
