  • Drive visible safety leadership and employee engagement.
  • Facilitate functional safety forums and support organisation-wide HSE communications.
  • Coach teams on high‑quality risk assessments and proportional risk controls (RAMS).
  • Lead internal assurance, support external audits and ensure timely close‑out of findings.
  • Conduct or support investigations for major/high‑potential incidents and verify effectiveness of actions.
  • Champion digital safety systems, document management and KPI reporting.
  • Provide specialist advice on contractor management, Permit‑to‑Work and emergency preparedness.
  • Support safety requirements across Civil and Manufacturing projects.
  • Deliver targeted H&S training, including risk assessment, contractor control, fire safety and incident investigation.
  • Produce safety campaigns, bulletins and engagement content to strengthen culture.
  • Liaise with auditors, regulators, customers and insurers as needed.
  • Provide expertise in specialist topics (e.g., Fire, COSHH, DSEAR, Radiation, Noise, Vibration, Occupational Health).

About You

You will thrive in this role if you are:

Technically Skilled

  • Experienced in interpreting and applying UK Health & Safety legislation.
  • Knowledgeable in ISO 45001, HSG65 and effective safety management systems.
  • Competent in contractor control, COSHH, DSEAR basics, PUWER, fire safety and emergency planning.
  • Ideally experienced in specialist areas such as lasers, radiation, automation, NDT or additive manufacturing.

Core Capabilities

  • Proactive, action‑oriented and committed to driving meaningful improvements.
  • Skilled at influencing and engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Able to embed strategy, support cultural change and enhance risk ownership.

Behavioural Strengths

  • Excellent communicator with strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Collaborative, resilient and data‑driven with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • An active contributor to a positive team culture and psychological safety.

Qualifications
