 About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Metrology or NDT professional who wants to expand their expertise and work with advanced measurement technologies across high‑profile, multi‑sector projects. Whether you’re already an expert or looking to broaden your skill set, the MTC offers outstanding opportunities for cross‑training and development.

You’ll join a collaborative, supportive team working with some of the most advanced Metrology and NDT equipment available anywhere in the UK.


Key Responsibilities

You’ll play a critical role in delivering precision measurement and inspection activities, including:

Dimensional Inspection & Advanced Measurement

Using technologies such as:

  • CMM programming (Quindos, Modus, Polyworks)
  • X‑ray Computed Tomography (VGStudioMAX)
  • GOM 3D structured‑light scanning (GOM Inspect)
  • Leica Laser Trackers (AT960 T‑Probe & ATS600)
  • Romer scanning arms
  • Surface roughness measurement (Alicona & Sensofar)

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment, following MTC H&S protocols
  • Follow route cards, procedures and work instructions
  • Train colleagues and supervise apprentices
  • Conduct preventative equipment maintenance
  • Support manufacturing engineers with estimates, lead times and route cards
  • Arrange OEM maintenance, calibrations and assist with commissioning new equipment
  • Contribute to problem‑solving and continuous improvement activity

Skills & Experience

We’re interested in candidates from a range of technical backgrounds, especially those with experience in:

Essential

  • Tactile dimensional measurement (CMM, first principles)
  • Non‑contact data capture (laser scanning, 3D optical scanning)
  • Software such as Polyworks, SpatialAnalyzer, GOM Inspect, Quindos, Modus
  • GD&T interpretation (2D + 3D), alignment methods and coordinate systems
  • Understanding of BS8888 drawing standards
  • Experience in dimensional Metrology using CMMs, laser trackers, structured‑light scanners, measurement arms or surface‑finish systems
