This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

The Head of Events Project Management will oversee, co-ordinate and support delivery of medium to large scale events where there are large delegate numbers, use of MTC and non-MTC equipment, with a requirement for a tighter focus on helping to manage health and safety client side.

  • Develop and implement event strategies aligned with the departmental and organisational goals and KPIs.
  • Provide a high-quality level of event project management and co-ordination for internal and external events, both on and off-site as required.
  • Lead a small team of event project co-ordinators, currently consisting of 1 FTE with scope for future growth.
  • Allocate resources and delegate tasks to the team and wider colleagues and stakeholders effectively.
  • Work through a ‘One-MTC’ lens with MTC, MTC Training and MTC Events colleagues to solve problems and provide optimal outcomes that satisfy all stakeholders.
  • Schedule meetings, negotiating and liaising with internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Ensure the customer and all stakeholders needs are clearly captured, understood, and effectively built into the project scope, and all aspects of project delivery.
  • Continuously review event and project proposals for their requirements, accuracy and content.
  • Provide high attention to detail to create project plans and ensure they are robust and kept up to date for accurate resource and cost forecasting.
  • Continually communicate and track appropriate actions and information relating to an event or project with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor the progress of events and projects and notify the client and Head of Production about irregularities or variances to enable critical decision making.
  • Attend and present at regular event and project review meetings.
  • Complete cost analysis and ongoing cost monitoring, including tasks related to collecting supplier quotes, ordering, and invoicing.
  • Identifying risks within events and projects and offering mitigation actions to resolve them.
  • Evaluate the success of events and produce reports for senior management and identify areas for improvement, proposing and executing solutions.
  • Work with MTC Training to help maintain a safe and secure environment for apprentices during large scale event periods.

Person Specification:

Essential

  • Degree-level qualified in a Business or Events discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering events and projects to a high standard.
  • Able to delegate and manage a small team.
  • Able to deliver to tight deadlines and to brief.
  • A logical thinker with attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to proactively foresee possible challenges in smooth event delivery and mitigate risk of their occurrence.
  • Ability to work with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure requirements are delivered successfully.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for maintaining and updating processes and performance standards.
  • Ability to remain calm, positive and constructive under pressure.
  • To view situations from a commercial perspective and be operating at a level where commercially focused decisions are made.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentations.
  • Organised, disciplined, methodical, hardworking and a team player.
  • Embraces personal and professional development.
  • Able to use the MS Word, Excel, and Office applications proficiently.
  • Able to travel and has own vehicle.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and standards due to the close working relationship and proximity of the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre.
  • Masters-level qualified, preferably in a business discipline for the analytical skills, financial acumen and commercial awareness required for the role.
  • Demonstrable experience with creating narratives and storytelling in the engineering and manufacturing sectors to propose interesting ideas and support large-scale events with narrative formation.
